Weight Loss Journey: Week 4 Update

Big Daddy's Week 4 Update

Welcome to my weight loss journey! I’m excited to share my progress with you as I embark on this transformative adventure. This blog post marks the end of Week 4, and I can’t wait to update you on the small but significant steps I’ve taken towards achieving my goals. So, let’s dive right into it!

Setting the Stage

Here’s a quick recap of my progress through 3 weeks of my Journey.

  • Journey Beginning – I didn’t have much of a plan but I had a vision and a determination to improve each day.
  • Week 1 – I focused on moving more with goals of using my allotted 30 minutes at the gym and parking further away.
  • Week 2 – My attention turned to drinking more water and building on walking. I also decided to start using Weight Watchers.
  • Week 3 – Started adding body weight workouts and focused on more challenging physical activities.

Week 4 had the following goals:

  • Complete at least 2 body weight circuit workouts.
  • Complete at least 1 bleachers workout at the local track.

Progress Highlights

I reached my goal to complete at least 1 bleachers workout at the local track.

I’ve also reached the 1 month mark since I’ve started my journey! In that time, I’ve lost 20 pounds, going from 431 to 411 or 4.6% of my starting weight. Day by day, it didn’t seem like I had much progress, but looking at the sum, 20 pounds is something to be very proud of.

Challenges Faced

I did not do a very good job of logging my foods in the Weight Watchers app. Part was due to technical difficulties, but another part is not wanting to see the results of my overindulgence with sweets this week.

I completed my bleachers workout early in the week. It was a bit rough on my joints, knees especially. I did not do much more on the physical side after that.

Lessons Learned

Daily fluctuations in weight is a normal thing. Looking at the overall trend over the past month, things are working!

You’re going to have bad moments in any given day. Don’t let it ruin the rest of the day or week!

Listen to your body and rest as needed.

Looking Ahead

Starting out the 2nd month of my journey, I would like to focus in on adding strength training. That was my intention with body weight and bleacher workouts. I think I still need to make more progress in gaining strength and losing weight before trying that again. With that being said…

My goals for the week:

  • Complete at least 3 dumbbell workouts.
  • Focus again on logging each meal in the Weight Watchers app..

Final Thoughts

Week 4 overall was a challenging week, but it capped off a very successful month. I was reminded that this is a marathon and not a sprint. Life will happen and we may fall off our target path. Our daily weight will fluctuate up and down. Don’t let that get you down! Get right back at it, and keep moving forward! See you at the next update!
