My Journey: Beginning

I’ve made up my mind and things have to change! The vision for my journey is simple – I want to continually improve my health, fitness, and lifestyle to enable me to be able to enjoy life’s simple things with my family. I want to be able to:

  • Play and keep up with my kids, not watch them from the sidelines.
  • Wake up and move, without all the aches and pains.
  • Do the simple asks around the house without having to struggle.

Of course, these things will take time, effort, and I’m sure there will be some failures along the way. That will not stop me! My journey begins…Now.

Challenges

The biggest challenge I see starting out is that there is just so much that I need to change. There are so many daily aspects of my life that needs to be re-evaluated. They may need to be changed, or worse yet, removed completely.

To help with this challenge, I’m choosing to focus on 1 aspect at a time, starting with moving more. While other aspects of my life will likely improve just by having the “I’m doing this” mindset, movement is what I am going to focus on first.

The second big challenge I see is to keep going. I’ve tried so many times to start my journey to better health and they’ve all inevitably ended in failure. I ended up right back where I started…or worse.

To help with this challenge, I’m reaching out to you! Taking the time to reflect on my journey each week in an effort to share what I’ve learned in hopes of providing that inspiration for others that may be going through a similar struggle. That, along with the support of my loving wife, it will be different this time. Setbacks will happen, but they will be learning opportunities…not the end.

Goals For The Week

  • Park the furthest away from my office building. This will naturally add movement to my day.
  • Use my allotted 30 minutes during my workday to go for a walk.

Final Thoughts
